Assignments and Deliverables

MAD9014 Deliverables

This section shows all the graded deliverables for MAD9014. Every deliverable has a list of requirements, instructions for submission, and the week when it is due. For the exact due dates and times for your section, see the assignment page in BS LMS.

Late Penalty

Program late penalty for deliverables.

  • Up to one day late -10%
  • Up to two days late -20%
  • Three to ten days late -30%
  • After 10 days assignments are given a grade of zero. They can still be submitted for feedback but are worth no marks.

Late penalty percentages are calculated based on the total possible value of the assignment, not the grade for the work.

# Mental Health Extensions for Assignments

Once per semester you can get a 3-day extension on a single assignment. This extension does not change the due date for the assignment, nor does it change the date of the 10 day limit for assignment late submissions. This extension just provides immunity from the late penalty for 3 days. After the 3rd day, the full late penalty applies.

To apply for one of these extensions you do not need to provide an excuse, just post a submission through BS LMS on the Assignments page, to the Mental Health Extension item with a note saying which assignment you want to apply the extension to.

Extension requests must be made before the assignment deadline.

No extensions can be given to the final project.

If you want an extension other than the mental health extension, then it needs to be requested the day before the assignment is due. You must have a valid reason for the extension, not just wanting more time.

The late penalties and extension policy applies to all core courses in MAD&D.

# Quizzes

Worth 10% of Final Grade

At the start of nearly every class, your instructor will be asking a few questions about the videos and readings assigned the previous week(s).

Students need to raise their hand to answer. The instructor will ask the first person with their hand raised for their answer.

Each correct answer is worth 5 of the 10 marks. Over the course of the semester you need to answer 2 questions to get your full 10%.

# Hybrid Asynchronous Work

Worth 20% of Final Grade

The Hybrid portion of the course is worth 20% of the final grade. It is made up of 10 quizzes that can be found in the Activities > Quizzes area of the course on BS LMS.

Each quiz is made up of 9 random questions based on the course material in this course website and the videos in the first 6 weeks of the course. Each quiz covers a different topic area.

You can attempt each quiz up to three times in order to improve your mark.

You can use the course website and videos as reference when taking the quizzes. You MUST do the quiz yourself. It is not meant to be taken together with other people. These quizzes are a way for you to verify that you understand the material. This is why you can repeat the quizzes three times.

# Assignments

Worth 40% of Final Grade

Assignments will usually be started in class but finished outside of class. There are a series of assignments that will be completed between weeks 6 and 13 of the semester.

These assignments are all due on Fridays by 11pm.

# Project

Worth 30% of Final Grade

This is your final project that will combine all the topics covered in the course this semester.

This project is due by 5pm on the Friday of Week 15.

# GitHub

Many of your assignments will be submitted as a link in BS LMS to a GitHub Repo.
